Department of Health Proposes Amendments and New Rules at N.J.A.C. 8:42, Which Establishes Standards for Licensure of Home Health Agencies

The Office of Certificate of Need and Healthcare Facility Licensure in the Division of Certificate of Need and Licensing of the Health Systems Branch of the Department of Health (Department) proposes amendments and new rules at N.J.A.C. 8:42, which establishes standards for licensure of home health agencies.

The proposed new rules would include the responsibilities of home health agencies with regard to physician orders for life-sustaining treatment forms, which are commonly known as POLST forms. The proposed amendments would address the crimes and offenses that disqualify an individual from owning or operating a home health agency as well as the standards for rehabilitation, the testing of home health agency employees for tuberculosis, measles and rubella, and the requirements for changes in ownership of home health agencies, to name a few.

The proposal appears in the February 1, 2016 issue of the New Jersey Register. The public has until April 1, 2016 to comment on the proposal.
