For Your Information

N.J.A.C. 13:30-8.7 sets forth standards for patient records. N.J.A.C. 13:30-8.7(d) states that patient records, including all radiographs, shall be maintained for at least seven years from the date of the last entry, except that diagnostic and study models used for definitive treatment shall be maintained for at least three years from the date the model is made. Working models may be maintained.

Additionally, you should be aware that records for patients who are minors (under 18 years of age) must be maintained for seven years from date of last treatment, or two years following the 18th birthday, whichever is later.
