Miss Teen New Jersey to Give First-Hand Account of the Impact of Cyber-Bullying...

The Division of Criminal Justice - Office of Bias Crime and Community Relations will host a first-in-the-state “New Jersey Cares About Cyber-Bullying” conference on Tues., May 17. The conference is part of the “New Jersey Cares About Bullying” campaign which was launched two years ago by the Division of Criminal Justice - Office of Bias Crime to combat bullying in New Jersey’s schools and communities. The “New Jersey Cares About Cyber-Bullying” conference will promote awareness and education about the increase in bullying conducted through the use of e-mails, instant messages and online diaries, known as weblog, or blogs.

Division of Criminal Justice Director Vaughn L. McKoy will be the keynote speaker. In addition, Miss Teen New Jersey Samantha Hahn will give first-hand testimony on the impact of cyber-bullying. More than 200 law enforcement officers and educators will participate in workshops to learn about the following topics regarding cyber-bullying: its impact on the victim; the role of internet providers; and effective prevention and intervention models.
