Public
Service Announcements (PSA’s) with
celebrities with a New Jersey connection;
including actors Michael Douglas and Jason
Alexander, actor, producer and singer
Queen Latifah and former New Jersey Nets
basketball player Kenny Anderson have
been nominated to receive an Emmy Award.
Winners will be announced at the awards
ceremony on Saturday, September 17, in
Philadelphia. The Emmy’s are part
of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of Emmy Awards
nominations. The winning PSA’s are
the only “get out the vote”
PSA’s nominated.
The
four PSA’s are part of the “BE
POWERFUL, BE HEARD – VOTE NEW JERSEY”
voter outreach and education initiative
created by New Jersey Attorney General
Peter C. Harvey as part of the federal
Help America Vote Act. PSA’s also
include the Giants, Jeremiah Trotter of
the Philadelphia Eagles, the Army and
National Guard and other celebrities.
The
PSA’s are titled, “VOTE NEW
JERSEY,” with New Jersey Network
Public Television; producer John Barra,
executive producer George Nyktas, Editor
Tim Hufnell, and producers B.E. Shiloh
and actor Billy Baldwin.
The
PSA’s will help launch New Jersey’s
“BE POWERFUL, BE HEARD – VOTE
NEW JERSEY” campaign that will include
Russell Simmons’s Hip-Hop Summit
II at the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton.
The Summit will feature hip-hop artists
including Jim Jones and Juelz Santana.
