CUSTOMER ADVISORY

Springfield MVC Center Closed, Delanco MVC Closure Extended

TRENTON – Springfield Vehicle Center is closed due to an employee testing positive for COVID-19, and will reopen Tuesday, Jan. 19, the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission announced today.

The employee who tested positive was last in the Springfield Center Monday, Jan. 4.

Seven MVC Centers currently are closed due to an employee testing positive for COVID-19 at each location. These Centers are scheduled to reopen on the following dates:

  • Manahawkin Vehicle Center – Tuesday, Jan. 12
  • Toms River Licensing Center – Tuesday, Jan. 12
  • Edison Licensing Center – Tuesday, Jan. 12
  • South Plainfield Licensing Center – Friday, Jan. 15
  • Somerville Vehicle Center – Friday, Jan. 15
  • Delanco Licensing Center – Friday, Jan. 15
  • Springfield Vehicle Center – Tuesday, Jan. 19

The closure of Delanco Licensing Center has been extended to Friday, Jan. 15, due to an additional employee testing positive for COVID-19, requiring a revised timeline for staff quarantine.

Upon closure due to an employee testing positive for COVID-19, MVC Centers are cleaned and remain closed until contact tracers have cleared enough employees to reopen or any required quarantine is complete.

Cherry Hill Vehicle Center is reopening tomorrow, Thursday, Jan. 7, after the closing of quarantine and full COVID-19 cleaning.

All MVC Vehicle Centers are open by appointment only, with no walk-ins allowed, while MVC Licensing Centers accept walk-in customers for new permits, licenses, and non-driver IDs.

License/ID renewals that cannot be completed online, including for those with visa restrictions, require an appointment. Renewals are not available on a walk-in basis at Licensing Centers.

Appointments at Vehicle and Licensing Centers are scheduled 30 days in advance at NJMVC.gov. The MVC adds thousands of appointments each day, and customers should check online early in the morning and at multiple MVC locations to best secure an appointment.

Most basic licenses/IDs and registrations can be renewed online at NJMVC.gov. When you successfully renew online, the renewal goes into effect immediately, and your printable receipt and expired document are valid for driving.

Customers should always log on to NJMVC.gov to check the status of locations and learn more about MVC operations before visiting any MVC facility. Customers also can identify whether a transaction is available online, by appointment, or by walk-in using the “How do I…?” Cheat Sheet in the Quick Links on the MVC home page.
