NJMVC Licensing Center Services Will Be Unavailable Saturday, February 25th Due to Verizon Network Maintenance

TRENTON – On Saturday, February 25, the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (NJMVC) will be unable to process driver license or permit transactions at all Licensing Centers due to required Verizon network maintenance to the nationwide system that connects all motor vehicle agencies across the United States. All NJMVC Licensing Centers therefore will be closed on Saturday, February 25.

The Verizon network maintenance will impact the operations of the National Highway Transportation Safety Agency’s (NHTSA) Problem Driver Problem System (PDPS) on Saturday, February 25. The NJMVC, and all other motor vehicle service agencies nationwide, will be unable to access the system, as required by law, to complete driver license or permit transactions.

All NJMVC Vehicle Centers will remain open on Saturday, February 25. Online services at NJMVC.gov are unaffected.

Customers with appointments at NJMVC Licensing Centers on February 25 will receive notification that their appointments have been cancelled and be offered courtesy return passes.

The passes will allow affected customers to be serviced as walk-in customers at the Licensing Center where their appointment was scheduled through Saturday, March 11. These customers can return at any time that is convenient and be serviced by showing their notice of appointment cancellation, which will be received either by email or text.

The Verizon network services are provided to the NJMVC by the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA). AAMVA is a nonprofit organization which develops model programs in motor vehicle administration and serves as an information clearinghouse in those areas.
