Thomas Edison State College provides flexible, high-quality
educational opportunities for self-directed adults. New Jersey
State Police personnel interested in earning a college degree
to qualify for promotion pursuant to SOP C58 (Educational
Standards for Promotion), and other law enforcement personnel
will find the College's educational programs are ideal for
those whose work and lifestyle demands make traditional college
attendance difficult.
Although the College offers 15 degrees in more than 100 areas
of study, several degrees are well suited for law enforcement
professionals. The College offers the Associate in Science
in Public and Social Services and the Bachelor of Science
in Human Services degrees with areas of study in Emergency
Disaster Management and Administration of Justice.
There are many options to earn credit at Thomas Edison State
College, including Prior Learning Assessment, EMI/FEMA courses
and other American Council on Education-recommended courses,
training, testing, military training, Thomas Edison State
College courses and transfer credit from other regionally
accredited colleges. Students may earn up to 16 credits for
N.J. Basic Course for Police Officer's training.
Many of the NJOEM training courses may be used to achieve
college credits through degree programs at Thomas Edison State
College.
Enrolled students have access to academic advisors to help
them analyze their needs and develop a degree plan. All advising
may be done over the phone or through e-mail or fax.
Students may enroll at any time and a new semester begins
each month at Thomas Edison State College. Students are encouraged
to investigate financial aid options and consult their employer
to determine eligibility for tuition reimbursement programs.
