Haley joins litter pick up on Route 34 in Wall Township

NJDOT Commissioner John J. Haley, Jr., will join NJDOT maintenance forces in a litter pick-up on Route 34 near Airport Boulevard in Wall Township. The pick up will occur on Monday, June 16, 1997, at 11:30 AM.

Tomaino’s Landscaping of Howell Township, which has adopted this section of Route 34 as part of NJDOT’s Adopt-A-Highway program, will participate in the litter pick up. Tomaino’s Landscaping has been part of the Adopt-A-Highway program since its inception in 1992 and has also adopted sections of routes 33 and 35 in Monmouth County.

"We are committed to solving the litter problem along our roadways," the Commissioner said. "In April, our starting point was Newark, but the entire state of New Jersey is our goal. This is a quality of life issue.

"We have 2,400 road miles to keep clean in New Jersey and we need everyone to hear about our litter problem and help us by not littering."

This section of Route 34 was identified in April by Commissioner Haley as one of the state’s litter hot spots. The Commissioner will be available to discuss the NJDOT’s litter control efforts on state highways. The litter pick-up will begin on Route 34 northbound at Airport Boulevard.
