NJDOT resumes Route 295 pavement rehabilitation in Mount Laurel and Westampton

(Trenton)- Commissioner Kris Kolluri today announced that the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) will resume work on Route 295 northbound and southbound from milepost 41.0 to 46.5 in Mount Laurel and Westampton, Burlington County. The project, which was halted in December 2007 due to winter weather, will resume on or about Monday, March 24, 2008.

Double lane closures may be required Monday through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., from Fridays at 10 p.m. to Saturdays at 8 a.m., from Saturdays at 9 p.m. to Sunday at 9 a.m., and from Sunday at 9 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m. All work is weather dependent.

NJDOT began work on the $8.7 million pavement preservation project in March 2007. NJDOT will extend the life of the pavement by 12 to 15 years by replacing 49 slabs and partial slabs of concrete pavement. In addition, NJDOT will increase skid-resistance by grinding the new concrete pavement surface. The project is scheduled for completion in August 2008.

NJDOT has installed variable message signs on Route 295 and motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website, www.njcommuter.com,for project updates.
