NJDOT reopens rehabilitated
Prospect Street Bridge in Dover

Completed construction project ensures the safety of the bridge

(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced the reopening of the rehabilitated Prospect Street Bridge in Morris County.

Starting tomorrow at 10 a.m., Wednesday May 4, NJDOT’s contractor Kyle Conti Construction, LLC is scheduled to reopen the Prospect Street / CR513 Bridge over NJ TRANSIT’s Morristown Line after completing final work on the bridge deck.

The Prospect Street Bridge was closed to traffic on November 25, 2014 prior to a forecasted snow storm. The closure occurred due to concern about the condition of the bridge deck and additional damage that could have resulted from snowplows. After the storm, NJDOT thoroughly inspected the bridge and determined that the condition of the bridge required it to remain closed with a detour in place, until permanent repairs could be completed.

The federally-funded $3.1 million bridge rehabilitation project began in the spring 2015. The project replaced the superstructure and deck, and performed repairs to the substructure of the structurally deficient bridge. The new structure has two 12 foot, 6 inch lanes in each direction with an 8 foot, 6 inch sidewalk along either side.

The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT's traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information and for NJDOT news follow us on Twitter @NJDOT_info
