Route 47 reopened after completion of
emergency bridge repairs in Millville

Traffic detoured using Route 55 and Route 49 until further notice

(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced Route 47 is reopened in both directions following emergency repair to the bridge over Menantico Creek just north of Schooner Landing Road in Millville, Cumberland County. The highway was reopened on Thursday, September 28 at 4 pm.

NJDOT crews closed Route 47 in both directions on August 31 following an inspection that found deterioration to structural members of the bridge that required repair. The steel grate deck had to be removed in order for crews to gain access to the deteriorating stringers and purlins that support the deck. New purlins were fabricated and installed, bridge components were cleaned and refurbished, and the deck was reinstalled.

Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT's traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information and for NJDOT news follow us on Twitter@NJDOT_info.
