Speed Limits For State Roads

Route US 9W
(a) The rate of speed designated for the certain parts of State Highway Route US 9W described in this subsection are hereby established and adopted as the maximum legal rate of speed:
1. In Bergen County:
i. In the Borough of Fort Lee:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 30 MPH between Kelby Street (ramp from Route NJ 4) and the Englewood Cliffs Borough-Fort Lee Borough corporate line (approximate mileposts 0.0 to 0.99); thence
ii. In the Borough of Englewood Cliffs:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 30 MPH between the Fort Lee Borough-Englewood Cliffs Borough line and Middlesex Avenue, except for 25 miles per hour when passing through the Japanese Children Society School zone during recess, when the presence of children is clearly visible from the roadway or while children are going to or leaving school, during opening or closing hours (approximate mileposts 0.99 to 1.37); thence
(B) Zone 2: 35 MPH between Middlesex Avenue and 800 feet north of Demarest Avenue (approximate mileposts 1.37 to 2.60); thence
(C) Zone 3: 40 MPH between 800 feet north of Demarest Avenue and the Tenafly Borough-Englewood Cliffs Borough corporate line (approximate mileposts 2.60 to 3.81); thence
iii. In the Borough of Tenafly:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1:  40 MPH between the Englewood Cliffs Borough-Tenafly Borough corporate line and the Alpine Borough-Tenafly Borough corporate line (approximate mileposts 3.74 to 5.26); thence
iv. In the Borough of Alpine:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1:  40 MPH between the Tenafly Borough-Alpine Borough corporate line and the State of New York-State of New Jersey jurisdictional line (approximate mileposts 5.26 to 11.15).
