Dini Ajmani, Assistant Treasurer
As Assistant Treasurer, Ms. Ajmani is tasked with overseeing the divisions of Public Finance, Pension and Benefits, Investments, and Lottery. Ms. Ajmani has two decades of experience in financial services, including tenures at various banks where she led the marketing effort directed at institutional clients such as mutual fund managers. As a graduate of Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business and a former legislative fellow for Finance and Economic issues for Sen. Cory Booker, she brings a strong understanding of financial markets and macroeconomic issues to her role.
Catherine Z. Brennan, Deputy Treasurer
As Deputy Treasurer, Ms. Brennan oversees matters pertaining to budget and appropriations and revenue. She brings with her a wealth of experience in matters related to the state budget, having spent almost 25 years working on revenue and finance matters for the non-partisan Office of Legislative Services (OLS). During her tenure with OLS, she spent eight years as committee aide to the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee and also served as aide to the Joint Legislative Committee for Constitutional Reform and Citizens Property Tax Constitutional Convention during the 2006 Special Session on Property Tax Reform. Most recently, Ms. Brennan served as Chief of the Revenue, Finance and Appropriations Section at OLS.
Jennifer Keyes-Maloney, Assistant Treasurer
As Assistant Treasurer, Ms. Keyes-Maloney oversees matters related to Treasury’s divisions of Taxation, Revenue and Enterprise Services, Risk Management, and Unclaimed Property. She has amassed substantial budget and policy experience after serving as the Assistant Director for Governmental Relations for the New Jersey Principal and Supervisors Association for the last nine years. Prior to that, Ms. Keyes-Maloney, an attorney, worked for the New Jersey Judiciary as a legislative liaison for the Administrative Office of the Courts and also has extensive project management experience, including serving as the Fiscal Compliance Officer for Philadelphia’s Children’s Investment Strategy. She is also serving her second term as a Councilperson for the Township of Ewing.
Jo-Ann Povia, Chief of Staff
As Chief of Staff, Ms. Povia plays an integral role in all Treasury matters, while directly overseeing communications and legislative affairs, as well as the divisions of Administration, Property Management and Construction, and Purchase and Property. She brings a wealth of both public and private sector experience to her role, having most recently served as Chief of Staff for Assemblywoman Elizabeth Maher Muoio. In this capacity, she directed Assemblywoman Muoio’s legislative agenda and oversaw research, constituent relations and intergovernmental relations. Prior to that she served more than a decade as Director of Research and Special Projects for the Mercer County Board of Freeholders after serving many years in executive management for Hyatt Hotels and Resorts.
Jennifer Sciortino, Director of Communications
Ms. Sciortino has more than 20 years of experience in government communications, including 12 years with the New Jersey Legislature where she served as Deputy Communications Director for the Assembly Majority Office and Press Secretary to the Senate President in the Senate Majority Office. Prior to that she served as a Deputy Press Secretary in the Governor’s Office during the administration of Richard J. Codey and has also held communications positions with the State Health Department and the City of Perth Amboy.
Andrea Spalla, Director of Legislative Affairs and Constituent Relations
Ms. Spalla previously served as Chief of Staff to State Assemblyman Andrew Zwicker. Prior to that she served two terms on the Princeton Board of Education, including a term as President, and co-founded two non-profit organizations. She previously practiced international corporate law in New York.
Sharon Alessi, Executive Assistant to both the Treasurer & Chief of Staff
Ms. Alessi has served the Department of the Treasury for more than 30 years, lending her invaluable assistance to 14 state treasurers over the course of five different administrations, including direct support to five state treasurers over the course of three different administrations. Ms. Alessi ensures the day-to-day operations of the Treasurer’s Office function smoothly, coordinates planning for the state budget process and plays an integral role in ensuring a smooth transition during changes in administrations.
