Emergency Preparedness

Protecting New Jersey’s residents

The possibility of public health emergencies arising in the New Jersey should concern all residents and workers in our state. Recent natural disasters, acts of bioterrorism, emerging diseases and the threat of pandemic influenza make is more clear than ever that we should all be prepared for any type of emergency

Though some people feel it is impossible to be prepared for unexpected events, the truth is that taking preparedness actions helps people deal with disasters of all sorts much more effectively when they do occur.

The New Jersey Department of Health has developed plans and procedures to prepare and respond to all threats to our public health.

We have also developed a wealth of information and educational materials to help you prepare.

Responding to Public Health Emergencies

PHILEP has developed a strategic plan that details the many activities that this division will undertake in preparing and responding to public health emergencies.
