Educational Events and Things You Can Do to Help

  • Saturday September 21, 2013
Build -A Rain Barrel Workshop-Spring Lake, NJ
    • Meeting Location: SSpring Lake Pavilion Boardwalk ,Ocean & Atlantic, Spring Lake NJ 07762
    • Time: 10am - 12pm
    • Affiliation: New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and Clean Ocean Action
    • Number of Volunteers Needed: 20 volunteers building rain barrels but whole families are welcome to join in!
    • Project Description: Build-A-Rain Barrel Workshop- A rain barrel is placed under a gutter's downsport next to a house to collect rain water from the roof. The barrel holds about 50 gallons of water which can be used to water your landscape. By installing a rain barrel on your house you can disconnect your gutter from the stormwater system which helps to alleviate the stormwater pollution that enters our streams, Wreck Pond and the Ocean! Rain Barrels are just one way to be apart of the solution to the stormwater pollution affecting our waterways! You can also conserve water by harvesting the rain for non-food gardens. Participate in this event and you will learn about other ways to help Wreck Pond and will go home with your very own Rain Barrel for only $20! We will recycle and modify 55-gallon blue food grade barrels for use as Rain Barrels.
