  • Farmers Who Suffered Losses

Farmers who suffered damage or loss of livestock, crops or buildings should call their local FSA office as soon as possible, as FSA is gathering information to submit to Washington ASAP.

For those farmers in the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP) and for those with crop insurance, please call either FSA or your insurance agent before plowing under your fields, as they need to assess your damage first-hand.

Also the Freehold FSA office is currently out of service.  Please call the main NJ FSA office at 609-587-0104.

  • Asian Longhorned Beetle Quarantine Zone Message

The Department of Agriculture and USDA-APHIS urge residents in the previously established Asian longhorned beetle quarantine zone to be extra-careful about disposing of any woody debris caused by Hurricane Irene or when burning any firewood they may have had ourtside when the hurricane hit.

We are asking residents in Carteret, Woodbridge, Rahway, Linden, Roselle, Elizabeth and Clark to "keep it in the zone," and NOT move firewood ouitside the quarantine zone, especially as camping and hunting seasons approach. Also, those with woody debris caused by the storm should set it out for local public works crews to pick up, as they are aware of the protocol for disposing of wood that may contain the beetle.

Tree removal companies and those utilities that may use them have been reminded by the Department to take all downed trees and other woody debris to the Linden incinerator to be burned.

With everything people have had to contend with during the storm, they may not be thinking about the wood or woody debris in their back yard possibly harboring the Asian longhorned beetle.  Let's not allow the cleanup from this natural disaster to enable the spread of this destructive. invasive, tree-killing pest.
