Gloucester and Salem Counties are the focus of the HPO's pilot GIS project. An existing architectural survey of Gloucester County is being used to test procedures for data conversion, and a new architectural survey of Salem County will be conducted to test procedures for data acquisition.
Overall project goals include:
- Developing a requirements analysis for an organizational GIS
- Defining system resources and developing spatial and attribute data structures for historic resources
- Implementing data conversion and acquisition
- Refining data structures based on results of conversion and acquisition
- Developing applications for data management and distribution (internal and external) and integration into HPO processes
- Planning for continued data development
